Background • Pratirodh Sansthan has been working with tribal clans, primarily on rights movement, and bonded labor issues for a long time • Residential school for tribal girls in Bhadesar was a first formal long term intervention program of its kind in the region • Started and operating since 2008 with AfE-SV support • Girls from the backward tribal belt, mainly bheel and meena casts, attend a fully residential school

About The Project • Residential school with 54 girls in attendance between age group of 9-12 years • School has two full-time trained teachers • School follows the state curriculum and primarily relies on teaching aid from Digantar, and follows activity based pedagogy Current enrollment/attendance distribution:

Mid-year Assessment • 10 out of 11 girls appeared for Government School 5th grade examination, and successfully cleared the exam. • 10 girls have been admitted to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyala (Central government scheme), academic session due to start in July. • See http://www.education.nic.in/kgbv_guidelines.asp • The girls are also attending free computer training lessons at Shyamdas Sansthan • Students have shown steady progress in mid-year evaluations since the start of term • 15 girls are now preparing to appear in 5th grade examination for next 2011 academic year • 5 New girls were admitted during the first half of the academic year
