Formation of Classes Smallest observation = 24 Lower Limit of 1st class = 20 Largest observation = 48 Upper Limit of last class = 50 Range = 50-20=30 Number of classes = Range / width of class Appropriate number of classes: 4-12 classes Let width of class = 5 Number of classes=30/5 = 6 which is an appropriate number
