  3. Warm-Up 8/10 • Rewrite the mentor sentence on the board: • Most of the kids in my class are carrying base drums and glockenspiels and flutes. • Look at notes over clauses and sentence types. • Identify the type of sentence, and types of clause.

  4. What is plot?

  5. What is Plot? Answer: The pattern of events in a story or drama.

  6. PLOT Climax/Turning Point RisingAction Falling Action Event Event Event Event Event Event Inciting Incident Resolution / Denouement Exposition

  7. Exposition: The beginning of a story, where the author sets the tone for the story. It establishes: the setting, introduces the characters, and gives background information.

  8. Inciting Incident An event in the story which starts the action.

  9. Rising Action • the part of a story where the tension increases and the conflict gets exciting

  10. Climax The high point of interest where the conflict is resolved; also known as “The turning point”.

  11. Falling Action the relaxation of tension after the climax of the story

  12. Resolution/Denouement(Day-new-ma) the part of a story where loose ends are tied up-the end of the story
