Strategic Context and Policy Objectives Strategic Context The EU Initiative Contributes to: The Business Growth Agenda The National Statement of Science Investment Budget 2016 Innovation New Zealand Package The Tertiary Education Strategy 2014 – 2019 Purpose: Support universities to stimulate increased innovation and entrepreneurship through recruiting high calibre academics with entrepreneurial and commercial skills.

  4. Policy Objectives Stronger connection between universities and industries, both nationally and internationally. Grow the pipeline of entrepreneurs and enhance the innovation ecosystem in New Zealand. Deliver economic benefits for New Zealand. The rationale is to create more opportunities for Universities to partner with the commercial sector to achieve shared objectives and increase New Zealand’s overall innovation capability and performance.

Excellence of the proposed academic and research programme Industry impact • Commercial Benefit, start-up opportunities, partnerships. Excellence and benefit for the University. Management and Implementation • Strength of government and management, support for the academic and the eco-system, robust evaluation. Estimated costs and revenue.

Probity = a process conducted with integrity and fairness to all Covers good practice, policy and any applicable rules Our expectations: conflicts of interest, respect confidentiality, timeliness, fair and impartial evaluation, respect any process contract. We independently observe to ensure fairness, consistency and equal access to information, whilst respecting confidentiality Remember, respondents have obligations to help ensure probity Raise any issues early.
