  1. Concept Construction Mitotic Cell Reproduction Due by the end of the period today!!! Names: Date: PD:

  2. Directions: You have three tasks in this assignment. Follow the directions for each task to receive full credit. You may use your notes or online information to obtain any answers that you do not know. • Task 1: Answer questions • Task 2: Label Structures • Task 3: Construct Events of Mitotic Cell Division

  3. Task 1 Directions: Answer all of the following questions • What are two reasons for mitosis? • What ploidy are the cells that mitotic cell division produces? • Only eukaryotic cell undergo mitosis, why can’t prokaryotic cells undergo mitosis? • What is cell reproduction of prokaryotic cells called? • At what point of the cell cycle is DNA replicated? • What stage of the cell cycle is a cell in most of the time?

  4. Task 2 Directions: Label the structures which are numbered and label the phases which are lettered using the words given Spindle Fiber Chromosome Plasma membrane Prophase Metaphase Daughter Chromosomes Centrosome Chromatin Anaphase Telophase Interphase Centrioles Nucleolus Nuclear envelope Cytosol

  5. Task 3Directions: First- move the upcoming slides to the correct order . Second- Arrange the words and structures on the following slides to correctly construct the events of Interphase and Mitotic Cell Division. Once everything is arranged correctly also insert arrows to point a word to a structure.

  6. Telophase & Cytokinesis Cleavage furrow Nuclear envelope forming Chromosomes uncoil back to chromatin

  7. Interphase Plasma membrane Nuclear envelope Nucleolus Chromatin

  8. Metaphase Sister chromatids Plasma membrane Centrosome Centrioles

  9. Prophase Plasma membrane Fragments of nuclear envelope Early Mitotic Spindle Centromere

  10. Anaphase Plasma membrane Daughter Chromosome Kinetochore fiber Polar spindle fiber
