  2. 8-14-13 “I caught a garter snake!” yelled Cathy, as she ran up to her friend, Tim. “That’s great. I’ve never seen a snake that wasn’t in a cage,” said Time. “Well,” said Cathy, “I have one right here in this box.” Cathy set the box down on the ground and opened it. There was absolutely nothing inside. “So where’s this garter snake of yours?” asked Tim expectantly. Then Cathy noticed a little hole in the corner of the box. • True, false, or inference? • Tim had seen snakes before, but they had been in cages. • Cathy said the snake she had caught was in the box. • The snake had escaped from the box through the little hole. • Cathy had captured a black snake.
