Experience • Youth unemployment is a serious problem in Bangladesh like most of the countries of the world, but the features are somewhat different. • The common factors of youth unemployment that we have experienced are- • Slow pace of job creation • Lack of Skill • Mismatch between supply and demand in the labor market • Social Evaluation of work • Type of Livelihood

  3. Discover • We have surveyed 100 fresh graduates of the University of Dhaka who are struggling to get into the job market. • The survey results pointed out many reasons behind youth unemployment among which we picked two main reasons to work with.

Solution • Launching a ‘Mandatory Internship project’ in the public universities for students of Social Science Faculty. • The main purpose of our project will be to produce skilled and experienced youth according to the demand of the job market. • The social evaluation of work will also be challenged through the project.

Cont... • Initially our target population will be 1000 unemployed fresh graduates from the faculty of social science of the University of Dhaka. • The rationale behind choosing this target group is that presently there is no internship program available for the students of social science in Bangladesh.

  7. Cont... • We will execute this plan through creating a collaboration between the government and public universities. • There will no extra cost in implementing this project because the existing government infrastructures will be utilized and remuneration and production will be leveled.

  8. Cont... • The target populations will gain- • 6 months work experience • Increase in technical skills • Practical relevancewhich will be useful both in further studies and works. • Awareness and will be able to challenge social, cultural and gender sensitive issues.

  10. Planned Results and Outcomes • Our team will spend 90 hours on the solution in a month • We are expecting to reach 1000 young unemployed people per year initially. • We will engage 25 young people for the purpose of this project
