  5. Household ICT environment – Internet Accessibility Rate, ITU ※This is based on the rate of households that have Internet access via xDSL, cable modem, FTTx, wireless LAN, mobile phone Internet, etc. Regardless of actual use.

Household ICT environment – Internet Access Type Mobile Internet Among the Internet access types at home, the rate of using ‘Mobile Internet’ is the highest with 99.9%, followed by Wireless LAN (81.8%)', ‘FTTx(57.1%)', and ‘xDSL(14.3%)'. Wireless LAN (WiFi) FTTx (Incl. FTTH, Apartment LAN) xDSL Cable Modem Broadband Wireless LAN (e.g,Wibro)

  7. Household ICT environment – Households with Computer Out of all households, 80.6% have computer at Home ※'Households with Computer' refers to the rate of household whose member owns one or more Desktop computer, Notebook computer , Tablet PC(Smart-pad) etc.

  8. Household ICT environment – Households with ICT Devices Smartphone 79.7% of total households have 'Smart-phone', while 'Smart TV' and 'Smart-pad' account for 9.6% and 7.8%, respectively. Meanwhile, 76.6% of the total households have 'Desktop Computer' Smart TV SmartPad Desktop Computer Digital TV GPS Navigation Digital Camera Notebook Computer (Incl. netbook computer) Game console MP3 Player Digital camcorder Other (e.g. PDA, e-book reader)

Individuals ICT environment – Percentage of individuals using the Internet, ITU ※There's little difference between 'Korea's Internet usage rate(users who used internet in the last 1 month)' and 'The Internet users per 100 inhabitants of Korea as per ITU' because of the latter is calculated by the recommendations of the ITU(users who used internet in the last 1 year). ※exclude city-states of Less than 1 million people

Individuals ICT environment – Internet Usage Locations [Internet Usage Locations -Internet users aged 3 and over] 'Home (91.6%)' is the main location to use the Internet, followed by 'Office (36.0%)', 'Commercial Internet access facilities (14.8%)', 'School/ Kindergarten (14.5%)' 91.0% ofInternet users access Internet ‘Anywhere’ with Smartphone etc.

  13. Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Communication [E-mail Usage Rate -Internet users aged 6 and over] 60.2% of internet users aged 6 and over use E-mail service The E-mail usage rate of males(64.8%) is slightly higher than females (55.2%) by 9.6%p.

Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Communication [Instant Messenger Usage Rate -Internet users aged 6 and over] 99.0% of internet users those who in the 20s use Instant Messenger ※Internet service, which allows people to text each other, transfer certain files, or make voice call if they installed same program such as KakaoTalk, Nateon, MSN Messenger, My people, or business messenger

  16. Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Communication [Instant Messenger Access Devices -Instant Messenger users aged 6 and over] 96.4%(up by 22.8%p from the previous year) of IM user access it with 'Smartphone'

  17. Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Communication [SNS Usage Rate -Internet users aged 6 and over] Out of the Internet users aged 6 and over, 55.1% (fallen by 12.0%p from the previous year) have used SNS (Social Networking Service) in the last 1 year.

Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Economic Activities [Internet Shopping Usage Rate -Internet users aged 12 and over] Eight of Ten(81.2%) internet users in their 20s are Internet 'Shoppers‘ ※Internet Shopping refers to purchasing goods or services (including reservations) over the Internet, which includes purchasing paid contents such as music, movies, and games, but excludes just browsing goods, comparing prices, and buying financial products.

Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Economic Activities [Purchased Items by Internet Shopping - Internet shoppers aged 12 and over] Cosmetics Clothing, footwear, sporting goods, and accessories Booking/reservations Computer equipments or parts The most purchased item through the Internet is ‘Cosmetics (68.2%)' Video (e.g., movies, TV programs) Music products (Incl. streaming) Other paid contents (Work/School related contents) Home appliances, electronic products (Camera, Mobile phone etc.) Computer or video games Books, magazines, or newspapers Food, groceries (incl. health foods) Toy or Furniture Computer software (Excl. Games)

  21. Individuals ICT environment – Internet and Economic Activities [Internet Banking Usage Rate -Internet users aged 12 and over] Four internet users out of ten(45.3%) use Internet Banking By age, the usage rates of the 30s (71.6%) and 20s (61.7%) are relatively higher than other age groups.
