Integrity of educational vision Integrity = wholeness of an idea = a philosophy Art and design not just about being clever with your hands it’s about contributing to culture having a conversation with society and history Education also has to be a conversation cannot just be about skilling Buying a place in a world conversation

    14. Our culture is conversational Studio culture involves intimacy of ideas and action doing and talking, mutually necessary, integral creative projects have language built into them Hence we talk throughout studio have a whole Department of Theory We master the discourses

    15. You are not an empty vessel We don’t want to fill you up with a syllabus with corresponding exam dump Passive learning is inappropriate for Art & Design how would you get creative, poetic results that way? Regurgitation disappoints us even Occupational Health & Safety has philosophy Learning must be activated as communication

    16. Two sides to educational talk Inspiration in art or design getting access to ideas managing a brief and a vision maintaining a wonderful energy Academic process appreciating what counts toward the degree timetabling your efforts knowing your responsibilities

    17.
