Box Elder County Public Hearing Budget Highlights Personnel related costs: • Cost of Living Adjustment = 2.0% • Health Insurance = 7.18% increase (40% over 5 yrs) • $100k increase in uniform allowances • Changes in command structure in public safety ($50K) • New Positions: • (1) F/T – Assessor’s Office • (1) F/T – Landfill • (1) P/T – Clerk’s Office • (3) P/T – Buildings & Grounds (replacing contracted provider) • Chief Deputy – Assessor, Auditor, Recorder ($15K)

  10. Box Elder County Public Hearing Budget Highlights Fund Transfers • The Justice Court Fund, Municipal Service Fund and the General Fund transfer money to the Public Safety Fund. This money is needed for ongoing operations of the County Jail.

Box Elder County Public Hearing Future plans • County is on schedule to retire all outstanding debt by 2017 • Property tax rates: While the County did not go through truth-in-taxation for the 2015 tax year, expenditures continue to exceed revenues. If the trend continues (see below), it is anticipated the County will need to raise taxes or cut services in the near future. General Fund – Fund Balance Trend 2014 = (373,769) 2013 = (456,136) 2012 = (416,147)
