  6. CNS% Tracking Exposure time from NOAA Table 1 • Credit for unused time • Exposure 0.5 ppO2 or less can be ignored • Can be used for any ppO2

  7. CNS% Tracking • Add exposures for each depth and dive = Total CNS% exposure • ppO2 0.5 & above tracked • Cumulative • Recommended daily maximum = 80%

  8. CNS% Tracking Table CNS% Tracking Table (Table 3) • CNS% per minute at ppO2 • Multiply by time actually spent at depth Example: Dive for 60 min @ ppO2 1.2 Bar CNS% = 0.48 (Table 3) x 60 minutes CNS% = 28.8% (round up to 29%)

Surface Interval • Each 90 minutes – CNS% reduced by 50% • Oxygen is metabolised • Full desaturation after 12 hours on air only • Example: CNS% 29% after 3 hours (180 mins) • After 90 mins 50% reduction CNS% = 14.5% • After 90 mins 50% reduction CNS% = 7% • At end of SI CNS% = 7% • Whole 90 minutes only

  10. Surface Interval • CFT always recommend 2 hour minimum SI • A maximum CNS% of 80% should not be exceeded for a single or multiple dives • Allows for complete recompression treatment

  11. Multiple Profiles • Varying profile • Separate depth stages • Calculate CNS% for each stage • Total = CNS% for dive • Dive Computer

  12. Pulmonary TrackingSlow hit • Recreational diving – rare • Expeditions/Multiple Dives • Use Oxygen Tolerance Units (OTU) • 100% oxygen at 1 Bar x 1min • Recommended limit: 850 OTUs • Calculation not required for this course • CNS% will be limiting factor
