Progress to date • Reorganized curriculum into 10 cognate areas corresponding to competencies • Enrollment: 150 active, 27 in MCR • 2006 enrollment: 29 new certificate, 24 non-degree • Program totals: 286 since 1999 • New in 2006: basic science graduate students • 4 new courses instituted this year • Evidence synthesis by systematic review • (Clinician friendly) Advanced Biostatistics I and II • Academic leadership in an interdisciplinary research environment

T32 Oregon Students Learn and Experience Research (OSLER) Incorporate OCTRI into Student Research Project (MS1) 6 summer and 4 year-long mentored training students (medical, dental, graduate nursing, basic science, bioengineering, PharmD) OHSU provides 7-10 additional grants to students Week-long research course for students in summer MCR for long-term K12 Oregon Scholars in Clinical Research (OSCR) Selection underway 30 letters of intent Applicants represent gender and ethnic diversity, preclinical to community research Dr. Rick Deyo to assume leadership of K12 in Oct

Under development: • Curriculum to expose basic science grad students to clinical medicine, clinical research • Excellence in Mentoring program, collaborative group mentoring • MS for research administration, coordination • Challenges: • Expansion of training opportunities ($$) for young faculty, fellows • Expansion of mentor pool, promotion of excellence in mentoring
