  1. BAPTISM IN WATER 1. WHAT IS BAPTISM MEANS ? From a Greek word meaning to “Dip” or “Immerse.” Baptism in water means – Immerse into water. 2. WHO CAN BE BAPTISED ? Believers:- Mark 16:16 ; Acts 8:36-38; those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repented :- Acts 2:38 those who are Repented of their Sins. Grown up and not Infants : Acts 16:30-34

Acts 8:12 : Simon the Magician and the people of Samaria by Philip Acts 8:37-38 : The Ethiopian Eunuch by Philip Acts 16:14-15 : Lydia & her Husband by Paul. Acts 18:8 : Crispus & household by Paul

  4. BAPTISM IN WATER 5. HOW SHOULD BE A BELIEVER BAPTISED ? By full immersion in water Mark 1:9-11 Baptism of Jesus Christ. Rom 6:4 …buried with Him through baptism into death,….. Col. 2:12 buried with Him in baptism… raised with Him through faith…… B. Christians should be baptized in the name of the Fatherand of the Son and of the HolySpirit. Matt.28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:48; Acts 19:5 ,

  6. BAPTISM IN WATER 7. AFTER BAPTISM WHAT SHOULD FOLLOW NEXT? Acts 2 : 47 Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Fellowship) B. Acts 2:38. The gift of the Holy Ghost is promised to those who repent and are baptized. This experience should therefore be earnestly sought.

  9. WHAT IS HOLY SPIRIT ? John 14:17The Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.

  10. HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON John 15:26 "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, He will testify about me.

  11. HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on Hisown; Hewill speak only what He hears, and Hewill tell you what is yet to come.

  12. HE IS GOD from the BEGINNING Gen 1:2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over thesurface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

  13. HE SHOULD NOT BE GRIEVED Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

  14. WHAT DOES BAPTISM MEAN ? Gal 3:27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Luke 24:49 I am going to send you what my Father haspromised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."

  15. OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY - 1 "For it is with stammering lips and another tongue he will speak to this people, to whom he said, "This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest," and "This is the refreshing"; yet they would not hear"(Isaiah 28:11-12).

OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY - 2 "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.  And also on my menservants and on my maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days"(Joel 2:28-29).

  17. NEW TESTAMENT FULFILMENT- 1 "In the law it is written: “ With men of other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; and yet, for all that, they will not hear me" (1 Corinthians 14:21).

NEW TESTAMENT FULFILMENT - 2 "But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall ……"(Acts 2:16-18).

  19. WHO IS THE BAPTIZER ? Matt 3:11 "Ibaptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Mark 1:8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.“ Luke 3:16 John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

  20. WHO MAY RECEIVE ? ALL BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS : Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- John 1:12 ALL DISCIPLES : But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.“ Acts 1:8

  21. 1- HOW TO RECEIVE ? MUST BE BORN AGAIN (Acts 2:38)Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and youshall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

  22. 2 - HOW TO RECEIVE ? - BY FAITH Rom 10:9-10 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in yourheart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

  23. 3 - HOW TO RECEIVE ? - HUNGER&THIRST John 7:37-39 37 .. Jesus … said "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

  24. 4 - HOW TO RECEIVE ?- ASK • Luke 11:13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spiritto those who ask him!"

  25. 5 - HOW TO RECEIVE ?- FORGIVENESS Mark 11:24-25 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgivehim, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."

EVENT – 1 PENTECOST Acts 2:1-4 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tonguesof fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filledwith the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other TONGUES,

EVENT – 2 SAMARIA -Acts 8:14-17 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 When they arrived, they prayedfor them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they receivedthe Holy Spirit.

EVENT – 3 CORNELIUS’ HOUSE - Acts 10:44-46 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said,

  30. EVENT – 4 PAUL- Acts 9:17-19 17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord-- Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here-- has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he could see again. He got up and wasbaptized, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.

  31. EVENT – 5 EPHESUS -Acts 19:1-6 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?“ They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.“ 3 So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?" "John's baptism," they replied. 4 Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

  33. WHY WE SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES - 1 SPEAK TO GOD : 1 Cor 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

  34. WHY WE SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES - 2 EDIFIES HIMSELF : 1 Cor 14:4 He who speaks in tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

  35. WHY WE SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES -3 HELPS US IN OUR WEAKNESS Rom 8:26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

  36. WHY WE SHOULD SPEAK IN TONGUES SPEAK TO GOD : 1 Cor 14:2 EDIFIES HIMSELF :1 Cor 14:4 HELPS US IN OUR WEEKNESS Rom 8:26

  37. Conversion on Pentecost (Acts 2:38) Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be Baptizedin the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shallReceive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
