  1. Galatians6:1–5

  2. New in every way!

  3. Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus(519-430 BC)

  4. Fruit is singular!

  5. The Practical Section of Romans • Romans 12:5: “we are individually members one of another.” • Romans 12:10: “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.” • Romans 12:10: “Give preference to one another in honor.” • Romans 12:16: “Be of the same mind toward one another.”

  6. The Practical Section of Galatians • Galatians 5:13: “through love serve one another.” • Galatians 5:10: “But if you bite/devour/be consumed by one another.” • Galatians 5:26: “Let us not be challenging/envying one another.” • Galatians 6:2: “Bear one another’s burdens.”

  7. The Main point: To sum up, then, truly Christian relationships are governed not by rivalry but by service. The correct attitude is not: ‘I’m better than you and I’ll prove it.’ or, ‘You’re better than I am and I resent it.’ But: ‘You are a person of importance in your own right (because God made you in His own image and Christ died for you) and it is my joy and privilege to serve you.’

  8. A Relatively Light Word • Παράβασις “parabasis” Deliberate infraction “intentional” • Αμαρτία “Hamartia” Inability Cannot do it • Παράπτωμα “paraptoma” Fall into it It got me

  9. Situation: A person is ‘caught’What do you do? • A. Stand by and do nothing: - it is none of our business; - “I don’t want to get involved” • B. Despise/condemn in our hearts: - ‘Serves him right.’ - ‘He made his bed’. • C. Report him to the pastor: • D. Gossip about him to friends secretly: • E. Expose him openly in the prayer meeting: How about Cain? The Good Samaritan? The Pharisee?

  10. Restore! Καταρτίζω “katartizo” Mend something; make something whole again Matthew 4:21 – a net Medical – a broken bone

  11. Summary: maturity/immaturity • The spiritual (mature) ones help others w/ their burdens and are like Christ. • The spiritual (mature) ones have the privilege of healing the body. __________ • The fleshly (immature) ones ones serve themselves and don’t grow. • The fleshly (immature) don’t help the situation but make it worse and harm the Body of Christ.

  12. Examine yourself! • 1 Corinthians 11:28: “But a man must examine himself.” • 2 Corinthians 13:5: “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! • 1 Thessalonians 6:4: “But examine everything carefully.” • 1 Timothy 3:10: “These men must also first be tested.” • 1 John 4:1: “But test the spirits to see whether they are from God.”

  13. No Contradiction!Verse 2 & 5 • “Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” Βάρος – ‘burden’ • “For each one will bear his own load.” Φορτίον – ‘backpack’

  14. What is Genuine Spirituality?Being like Christ • Service: • Care: • Gentleness: • Faith: • Fruit: • Growth:

  15. Let’s be like Christ “If we walked by the Spirit we would love one another more, and if we loved one another more we would bear one another’s burdens, and if we bore one another’s burdens we would not shrink from seeking to restore a brother who has fallen into sin. Further, if we obeyed this apostolic instruction as we should, much unkind gossip would be avoided, more serious backsliding prevented, the good of the Church advanced, and the name of Christ glorified.”

  16. A Shelter in the Storm • The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide,A Shelter in the time of storm;Secure whatever ill betide,A Shelter in the time of storm. • Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,A weary land, a weary land;Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,A Shelter in the time of storm. • A shade by day, defense by night,A Shelter in the time of storm; No fears alarm, no foes afright,A Shelter in the time of storm.

  17. my Jesus, I Love You My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine; For Thee all the follies of sin I resign. My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now. I love thee because thou hast first loved meand purchased my pardon on Calvary's tree;I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow;if ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now. I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath; And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.

  18. Soli Deo Gloria!!!
