  2. BONUS+ • BONUS+ is a resource–sharing initiative that allows post graduate students and staff at the ANU giving access to over 7 million books from participating university libraries within Australia and New Zealand. If a book in our Library is unavailable, or we don't own a particular title, simply click on the BONUS+ link in the library catalogue to see if it is available to borrow • BONUS Plus member libraries • Auckland University of Technology (NZ) • Deakin University • Federation University Australia • Griffith University • Massey University (NZ) • Murdoch University • Queensland University of Technology • University of Melbourne • University of Newcastle • University of Sydney • University of Tasmania • University of Technology Sydney • University of Wollongong • Victoria University

  3. Why BONUS+ • The resource sharing landscape is evolving quickly and ANU Library would like to be able to offer greater flexibility to our users through the use of non-mediated services that access a wider variety of resources • The ANU Library is a Sierra site and this resource sharing technology works on both Millennium and Sierra Library management system. • BONUS+ is an INN-Reach module available from iii. The ANU Library already uses the INN-Reach Article Reach module for access to serial resources.

  4. What is the Bonus? • When researching whether ANU Library should join or not we discovered that - • The University of Melbourne has found that they are net borrowers from BONUS, suggesting that for a research university access to broader collections meets an important need. This is likely to lead to greater research productivity – resource are available quickly and efficiently, reducing the time that the researcher and library staff have to spend with searching for resources or using manual systems.

  5. BONUS+ at the ANU • It will be a circulation function that will be handled at the branch level by circulation supervisors. • The ANU BONUS+ Coordinator role is part of the User Services Coordinator position currently held by Vanessa Galloway in an acting capacity. • Important points for staff at the desk: • The service is not available to ANU undergraduate students. • Material is requested through the ANU Library Catalogue. • 10 requests per patron at any one time. • Material from other universities will be available for pickup from the hold shelf at the branch library they specified when requesting • Sierra is set up to read the barcodes from other universities; books from other universities become virtual ANU books. • Loan length is strictly 21 days, under no circumstances should staff alter due dates. • One renewal only. • ANU BONUS+ will go live for our community early in 2017.

  6. Requests/Fulfilments

  7. What is in BONUS+ for Library staff • Expectation will be that there will be fewer interlibrary loan requested that will need mediation by Library staff • Academic staff and PG students will enjoy greater access to resources, may cut down requests for help to find resources from this part of our community

  8. BONUS+ vs Inter Library Loans (UoN)

  9. Setting up the BONUS+ service • Staff have undertaken training for BONUS+ and will train up other staff on how to use the system • iii offer a Base Camp structure for us to work through to install the module • The University of Newcastle have BONUS+ staff who run the training sessions and are very knowledgeable and work in the role of Project managers for the installation of BONUS+ • Thanks go to the following staff – • Mark Huppert, Glynn Shepherd and Paul Pretor have been involved in doing the “behind the scenes” work to get the module working for us. • Vanessa Galloway and Chris Williams have been testing, testing, testing!

  10. BONUS+ test at ANU Library • So what will it look like, set up on the ANU Library staging server are these two links – • http://library.anu.edu.au:2082/search/t?search=dogs • http://library.anu.edu.au:2082/search/t?search=ishkabibble
