  1. Activity 41: A Cell So Small View each slide and write each step of the investigation in your notebook

  2. Question • Which is more effective at absorbing nutrients – one large cell or many small cells?

  3. Research • Think about what you already know or have already seen, experienced or heard of that might give you a clue so you can make an educated guess at the answer to this question. Write down at least 3 in your notebook. Here are some ideas to help you out: • Think of examples of times you’d rather have many small items as opposed to one large item. • Think about things that are meant to absorb. • BONUS: Think about labs from our energy unit. Is there one you can think of that might give you a clue to answer this question?

  4. Hypothesis • Write your hypothesis in your notebook. Be sure you: • Tell what you think is the answer to the question. • Give reasoning for why you think your answer is correct. • Include items from your research in you reasoning.

  5. Procedure • Read the procedure for this model from the online textbook. Document the procedure in your notebook in one of the following ways: • Diagram with labels showing what goes in each spot on the sepup tray. • Comic strip or illustrations for each step of the procedure. • A paragraph telling what steps you will take. DO NOT COPY THE EXACT PROCEDURE FROM THE BOOK.

  6. Data • Create a data table in your notebook to document your observations. View the photographs on the following slides and fill in your data table accordingly.
