  • Judges 1:27-36 “did not completely drive them out”

  • Israel seemed content to enslave the Canaanites!

  • Compassion – “Poor people, they are so misguided and helpless.”

  • Convenience – “It would be a lot easier for us if we just moved in and learned to ‘get along’ with these people.”

  • Opportunity to gain a resource- “IF we leave them alive, we can use them as SLAVES!”

  • A snare & Temptation- Judges 2:1-4

  • Next generation forsook the Lord – Judges 2:10-12

  • Idolatry continued, in the greater part, until the exile many hundreds of years later!
