  1. Things that you want to know about Argosy Cruises of Tillicum Village Tillicum Village is a Puget Sound area which is located on Blake Island dating back to beyond 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The Tillicum Village attraction has a scenic cruise from Seattle's central waterfront which is accessible through passenger vessel operated by Argosy Cruises. Tillicum Village attraction is accessible only through water. Seattle itself is named for a hereditary chief of both the Suquamish and Duwamish people who lived in the 1800s. They were known as a peacemaker and a great speaker in his native Lushootseed. In addition, Chief Seattle (Sealth) himself was, according to historical records, born on Blake Island. He was a great warrior, now better remembered as a man of peace for whom the city of Seattle was named. Washington became a territory in 1853 and in 1855 a treaty signed by Chief Seattle relinquished the Suquamish claim to Blake Island. Everyday objects were not simply utilitarian but decorative as well. Artwork of the Coast Salish included carved objects such as house posts, which served a function as well as being decorative. They were typically found on interior walls rather than on exterior walls for display. Other carved items included canoes, which the Coast Salish was very well known for, and with them elaborate paddles. Cedar formed the basic material for much of their life – from the dugout canoe that was used for transportation, fishing and hunting to the cedar-planked longhouses. The visitor experience starts rights before you go on the bon voyage. Tillicum Village employees costumed in Northwest Coastal Native tribal costume greet you with a cup of clam nectar (clams and broth). As visitor enters the longhouse facility, a cooking display prompts you a whole salmon being cooked on cedar stakes on a alder wood fire in a traditional style of Northwest Coastal Natives. This freshly baked salmon is served to you on the buffet later. After meal, you can enjoy the traditional dance performance from the Tillicum Village dancers which also includes stories songs of Northwest Coastal Native groups. Visitors may have the opportunity to visit a gallery featuring regional Northwest art work well before the return trip to downtown Seattle. Visitors can shop signature gifts from the native gift shop. Totem pole carving demonstration by Native Americans is worth a full few minutes watch. Visitors can walk along the beaches and trails of the Island. Visitors can also camp on Blake Island, and still visit Tillicum Village. In short, the 4-hour escape includes: A live-narrated cruise to Blake Island Salmon buffet featuring Northwest cuisine Coast Salish-inspired program featuring storytelling and dances Exploration time on the island Return cruise Every tour showcases Lake Union, the Chittenden Locks, and views of the downtown Seattle skyline and the Olympic and Cascade Mountain ranges. Special theme cruises, such as the Christmas Ship Festival,
