  3. OBJECTIVE

  4. To provide a platform for Sri Lankan inventors to show their talent Help commercialize inventions To recognize outstanding inventions To promote a culture of inventions and innovations

  5. Four (4)participating groups . • Seven (7)Major categories of national significance • 22 Sub categories according to international standards

  6. PARTICIPATING GROUPS

  7. 04 Participating Groups • School Inventors • – Government/Semi-Government/International • Inventors from Universities and Technical Colleges, or any other Tertiary Educational Institutions • Open Category • Sri Lankan Business Organizations with Commercialized inventions

  8. SPECIAL CATEGORIES

  9. There are 07 Special Categories which include Nationally Important Broad Themes • Make Disable Independent • Help Food Security • Protect Environment • Save Energy • Assure Human Safety • Teaching Aids • Substitute Imports

  10. SUB CATEGORIES In line with International Definitions

There are 22 Sub Categories as follows A – Mechanics - Engines - Machinery - Tools – Industrial processes – Metallurgy B – Clocks and watches - Jewellery - Machinery – Tools C – Computer Science - Software - Electronics - Electricity- Methods of communication D – Building - Architecture - Civil engineering - Construction - Materials - Woodwork

  12. E – Sanitation - Ventilation - Heating F – Security - Rescue – Alarm G – Ironware - D.I.Y. H – Furnishing - Interior architecture I – Domestic science - Restaurant equipment J - Commercial, industrial and office equipment

  13. K – Agriculture - Horticulture - Gardening L – Clothing - Textiles - Machines and accessories M – Medicine - Surgery - Orthopedics - Material for the handicapped N – Optics - Photography - Cinematography O – Teaching methods and materials – Musical instruments - Art materials

  14. P – Transport - Motor vehicles - Ships - Aviation - Accessories Q – Foodstuffs - Drinks - Cosmetics - Paramedical - Health Hygiene R – Sport - Leisure S – Practical novelties – Presents T – Publicity - Printing - Packaging

  15. U – Games - Toys V – Protection of the environment - Energy • Each and every invention should be included to one of the above sub categories • Exhibitors are free to decide in which category their invention should be placed

  16. Awards for the Main Categories

  17. First, Second, Third places will be selected from each special category for each participating group Cash Prizes and a Valuable Certificate will be awarded for special category winners • First Place – Rs. 100,000.00 and a Certificate • Second Place – Rs. 50,000.00 and a Certificate • Third Place – Rs. 25,000.00 and a Certificate

  18. Awards for the Sub Categories

  19. First, Second, Third places will be selected from each category for each participating group Cash Prizes and a Valuable Certificate will be awarded for sub category winners • First Place – Rs. 25,000.00 and a Certificate • Second Place – Rs. 15,000.00 and a Certificate • Third Place – Rs. 10,000.00 and a Certificate

  20. DASIS AWARDS

  21. The “Dasis” Award will be presented to the Most Outstanding Invention in each participating group

  22. Dasis Award for School Inventors Dasis Award for Inventors from Tertiary Educational Institutions Dasis Award for Public Category Dasis Award for Sri Lankan Business Organizations

  23. Applications are closed on 30th July 2012

  24. SELECTION OF WINNERS

  25. Judgment will be done on 30th September 2012 throughout the day and the exhibition will be open for the public from 01st October 2012 Selections will be done by a panel of experts appointed by the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission Exhibition will be first opened to interested investors!
