  2. Notice indicating acceptance as either oral or poster presentation of contributed papers will be informed by e-mail in March 2005. Recommended format of the abstract is as follows: • Title of presentation • Author(s)/Organization with mailing and email addresses, telephone and fax numbers • Extended Abstract (2 pages) • Presentation (Oral or Poster) • Symposium publication: • Extended abstracts of all oral and poster presentations will be published in the Symposium proceedings before the meeting. The selected papers will be published in Journal of Ocean University of China (English Edition). • The main goal of this forum is to present new discoveries and ideas on marine research in the world. It will provide a vital chance to discuss comparative studies and to exchange new information. • This symposium will cover a broad range of topics in the following area: • Coastal environmental dynamics • Ocean circulation and ocean-atmosphere interaction • Polar oceanography and sea ice • Symposium will include oral and poster presentations for invited and contributed papers. Abstract should be submitted as an MS-word attachment to • lilei@mail.ouc.edu.cn • Deadline for abstract submissions is 28 February, 2005. 2nd Forum on Marine Science— New Development and Challenge First Announcement & call for Papers June 14-17, 2005 Qingdao, P.R. China Our Earth system is facing significant changes in climate and environment. Oceans play key roles in regulating these changes. More accurate prediction on these changes and their influence on human society are demanded. Marine sciences are facing the new challenge. This forum is the second of serial international symposium on new discoveries and theories of the marine system developed in the last 20 years. The first forum was held successfully in October, 2004. The 2nd forum will be co-organized by scientists from Dalhousie University, Canada and Ocean University of China from June 14-17, 2005.
