The Score. Total the interior and exterior scores. The Score. Transfer the totals for the exterior and the interior into the box on the lower left corner or the form. Add these two numbers to get the Grand Total and record it at the bottom. The Score.

  2. The Score • Transfer the totals for the exterior and the interior into the box on the lower left corner or the form. • Add these two numbers to get the Grand Total and record it at the bottom.

  3. The Score • Transfer the Grand Total into the next column of boxes. • Transfer the number of cash registers into box #3. • Divide the Grand Total by the number of cash registers. • The resulting number is the store’s score.

  4. The Score: • Use the grade ranges too see how this store compares with others in a national sample of retail tobacco outlets.

  5. The Score: • Stores that have higher grades do better jobs of limiting the public’s exposure to retail tobacco. • Lower grades indicate that the store does not do a good job of protecting the community from tobacco advertising and products.

  6. Now what? • Review the Store Alert Report Card and the Store Alert Training Guide. • Go to StoreAlert.com for online practice and more information. • Visit a few local stores and practice making and recording the observations. • Your group leader will help you plan activities in your community.
