  1. Why is playtime important for the development of toddlers in Preschool? It’s very simple, yet so true and comprehensive. Children need more play time. Many studies have proven the importance of play in child development. They show that play is essential for children’s healthy development, regardless of their age. Children learn about the world through play. They discover how to solve problems and interact with others. They learn how to express their thoughts and feelings, as well as resolve conflicts. Children develop language and literacy through play. They also understand and adopt social rules and expectations. 1. Creativity and imagination Because there are no fixed rules to follow, children can make their own games and guidelines. This opportunity to create and use imagination is important to cognitive development. 2. Problem-solving abilities Children work together during unstructured play to solve problems, like who takes the first turn in a game and establishing other rules of play. While activities should be supervised, allow children time to work together on problems before helping resolve a conflict or question. 3. Social skills Unstructured play encourages social skills and teamwork. Children take turns, learn to listen and share, develop imaginary scenarios and make decisions together. Because they are the ones driving play, they have the chance to learn on their own among friends. 4. Outdoor play and exploration Encouraging your young child to explore outdoor play is extremely beneficial and necessary for their development. Outdoor play helps them to learn lots about the everchanging environment and gives them the opportunity to use their whole body and develop their gross motor skills. It can meet their multi-sensory needs and can give them a love for the outdoors. Whether it is messy play, creative or role play, it is an essential part of learning. 5. Play gives children a choice. Having enough toys or activities to choose from will allow children to express themselves.
