Algebra Property Card Properties of Equality Reflective: a = a 5 = 5 Symmetric: If a = b then b = a If ½ = .5 then .5 = ½ Substitution: If a = b then you can If a = b and 9 + a = 15 replace a with b and then 9 + b = 15 vice versa Transitive: If a = b and b = c then If 2.5 = 2½ and 2½ = 5/2 a = c then 2.5 = 5⁄2
