  5. Voluntary School Bus Retrofit Program • Goal is to retrofit all eligible buses in Georgia • Pilot Program • Clean School Bus USA Grant • Retrofit 32 buses with DPFs and procure ULSD early: Clayton and Coweta County School Systems • Middle Georgia Clean School Bus Grant • Retrofit 18 school buses in Bibb, Houston, and Monroe Counties • Procure 20% blend of biodiesel and ultra low sulfur diesel

  6. Idling Reduction • Existing Initiatives • City of Atlanta has a idling ordinance • Bibb and Houston counties have adopted idling reduction resolutions • Number of school systems have adopted and implemented idling reduction policies for school buses • Clean Air Campaign “No Idling Zone” • Truck Stop Electrification • 2 truck stops equipped with “electrified” parking spaces • Additional funding to equip another 250 parking spaces • Georgia EPD currently developing idling reduction plan • Estimation of idling emissions • Draft idling reduction rule

  7. School Bus Retrofits • Expanded Pilot Program • EPA grant assisted in leveraging additional funds • Supplemental Environmental Project with Atlanta Public School System to retrofit all of their eligible buses • Toyota Clean School Buses for Kids: City of Marietta, Newton, and Henry County School System • CMAQ Funds • $2.5 million to retrofit school buses • Currently, working on obtaining 20% match • Future Plans • To apply for additional funding to continue and expand retrofit program • Sign up additional school systems

  9. Other Initiatives • Atlanta Heavy-Duty Vehicle and Equipment Inventory and Emission Study • Partnership between GDOT, GRTA, EPD, and Georgia Tech (GT) • Emission inventory developed for various diesel sectors • Cost effectiveness report for different emission control strategies • Inventory and Cost Effectiveness Reports have been drafted and are currently under review by the partners • Expand voluntary retrofit program • Waste Haulers • Nonroad • EPD reviewing other strategies
