  2. INTRODUCTION Sexting is considered to be the act of sending sexual explicit messages and/or nude or semi-nude photos electronically. The most common forms of distribution are text messages, emails, and social networking sites.

  3. TASK Students will answer the following Essential Questions and write their own “Anti-Sexting Poster” containing five wise things regarding SEXTING.

  4. Essential Questions What penalties can a teen receive from law enforcement?How many teens say they have sent/posted nude or semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves?How many teens are sending or posting sexually suggestive messages?Does sending sexually suggestive text and images affect what happens in real life?

  5. PROCESS Students will use hyperlinks to visit an assortment of sites designed to teach kids and teens about sexting. They will take notes in Microsoft Word while they browse so they can rewrite them in their own words and respond to at least 3 out of 10 discussions on the class wiki. When they have five guidelines for Sexting, they will make their “Anti-Sexting Poster” with Microsoft Publisher. Click here for an example.

  14. CONCLUSION After completing this activity on Sexting, the students will have a much better understanding of all the dangers sending suggestive pics or texts. Students will fully understand what the consequences could possibly be if the activities are engaged in. Also, students will know what to do if certain risky situations arise and how to stay safe yet still have fun texting, posting and sharing with friends.
