  2. Cooperative Learning Write down 3 things you know or think you know about Cooperative Learning.

Cooperative Task • Facilitator: Gather responses about Cooperative Learning from the members of your group and read to the group. • Synthesizer: Write a summative statement regarding the group’s response concerning Cooperative Learning. • Presenter: Read/Present the statement to the large group.

  4. Cooperative Groups • Everyone has a task • Group evaluation and grading • Number and make-up of group chosen according to activity

Cooperative Learning Strategies • Group into home groups • Number each person in the group. • Group into numbered groups and • Receive a cooperative learning strategy to review. • Read the description of the cooperative learning strategy and think of examples of classroom use that can be used to explain the strategy. • Return back to home groups • Each member will teach the group about their expertise in the cooperative learning strategy

If you want to learn more… • Cooperative Learning is the most researched of all instructional strategies. • Some familiar names: Johnson, Roger T.; Johnson, David W.; Kagan, Spencer; Aronson, Elliot • Most cooperative learning research has strong connections to school violence, race relations, conflict resolution and the like.
