  1. Sujet medicine, tele diagnostic Projects of bibliographical synthesis Subject: Médicine, tele diagnosis. • Renata ANADAO PINAFFI • Paulo Henrique MARTINS • Lucas Daniel NOGUEIRA MOTTA • André COIMBRA 1

  2. Sujet medicine, tele diagnostic The TelePathology Collaboration • Introduction • The points of Collaboration TelePathology • How does the collaboration work? • The TelePathology Collaboration: Store and Forward • The TelePathology Collaboration: conference web casting APPENDIX

  3. Definition: Telepathology allows consultations between pathologists and other professionals groups (institutes) around the world, consequently making a collaboration that, once together, they will work on the focus. Introduction

  4. It is necessary that the person who selects and transmits the histological images at the sending center is a competent professional pathologist with basic knowledge in pathology informatics. • At the receiving center there is also a pathologist (telepathologist) who receives the electronic images and performs their interpretation and diagnosis, based on the images and clinical information supplied. • The telepathologist sends a report back with the final result, also using telecommunication means creating collaboration between the medics. How does it works?

  5. Store-forward pathology The TelePathology Collaboration Web servicePathology Collaboration The interaction between several professionals at the same time

  6. The TelePathology Collaboration the telepathology collaboration links Services and tools are available for a collaboration analysis

  7. The TelePathology Collaboration Services and tools are available for a collaboration analysis

  8. The TelePathology Collaboration An illustration of the usefulness and Collaboration of this system TPCPC received this case from a pathologist in Argentina. The basic question was whether or not this tumor and if it was malignant or not

  9. conference web casting – University of Pittsburgh Medical Center The TelePathology Collaboration Web servicePathology Collaboration It is actively involved in creating and maintaining a large digital storage facility for whole slide imaging, digital imaging and telepathology.

  10. The TelePathology Collaboration http://dpig.upmc.com/serv.htm#ConferenceWebCasting An illustration of TelePathology Collaboration in real time All conferences can be accessed from anywhere within UPMC network, and many are available outside UPMC, especially in archived form.

  11. Features considered: • The interaction and the collaboration between physicians is a faster process ( sending/feedback) • Helps medical resources that is not available for detailed analysis • Support the profissional who does not have an large experience • Allows multiple simultaneous analysis of various parts of the world, from different views • otherwrise: • The medical stuff is not accessible to all • There is not a total image privacity/security The points of Collaboration TelePathology

  12. Sujet medicine, tele diagnostic Telecollaboration(Telepresence, Teleeducation, Telecollaboration in surgery)

  13. Sujet medicine, tele diagnostic INTROCDUTION • The Telecollaboration presently is a very important factor for evolution of the medicine as well as all areas of the human knowledge. Therefore the possibility of doctors to work together, sharing information, experiences and its probable discoveries.

  18. Communication between cities of Europe •Satellites(ASTRANET) Sample of collaboration Munich University of Tecnology •WEB(P2P and HTTP) •WIFI(WIMAX)

  19. Data compression and latency issue • Telecommunications network development • Absence of standardized data • Human factors interaction issues Four key technical problems related to telecollaboration in telepresence

  21. Virtual Slides Microscopy Virtual microscopy is a method of posting microscope images on, and transmitting them over, computer networks.

  22. Medical student • Digital Slides can be observed from multiples computers, • No need to prepare individual slides sets for students, • Easy to be teached. Applications and tendency…

  23. Pathological network not only within a hospital but also among remote hospitals • Improved diagnosis accurancy, • For difficult cases, establishing a network among pathologistis. Applications and tendency…

  24. Possibilities for new diagnostic methods using the benefits of new observation methods using PC and digital slide databases. • Comparasion of pre-treatment, • Simultaneous observation of multiples slides stained differents. Applications and tendency…

  25. Digital Slides can be observed any positions at desire magnification using mouse or keyboard. System for scanning tissue glass slides "Digital Slides viewing through Network”, NanoZoomer Digital Pathology http://sales.hamamatsu.com/assets/pdf/hpspdf/NDP_clinical.pdf

  26. Large amount of tissue glass slides can be scanned automatically. • The scans can be completed over night and the digital slides are ready for observation in the morning.
