2. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Introducción. Puede ser parábola o historia (Jesús no dice “parábola”). Tema: misericordia, compasión, Mat. 5:7; 12:9. • Introduction. Can be a parable or history (Jesus does not say “parable”). Theme: mercy, compassion, Matt. 5:7; 12:9.

Primera pregunta: “¿haciendo qué cosa poseeré la vida eterna? … ¿Qué está escrito en la ley? ¿Cómo lees?” Eres profesional para explicar la ley, ¿cómo la entiendes? • I. First question: “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?“…What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?“ You are a professional to explain the law, how do you understand it?

4. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • “Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con todas tus fuerzas y con toda tu mente; y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo …Has respondido bien. Haz esto y vivirás”. • 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself… You have answered rightly; do this and you will live."

5. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • II. Segunda pregunta: “Pero él, queriendo justificarse, preguntó a Jesús: --¿Y quién es mi prójimo?” • II. Second question: “But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?”

6. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • No entendió el amor. El amor no tiene límite. Es como el sol que no pregunta “¿A quién debo dar calor?” Tampoco el amor pregunta ¿a quién debo amar? • He didn’t understand love. It has no limit. It’s like the sun that does not ask “whom shall I warm?” Neither does love ask whom should I love.

7. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Hizo la pregunta para limitar su responsabilidad hacia otros. Para el judío solamente el judío era su prójimo y muchos de ellos fueron desatendidos • He asked the question to limit his responsibility toward others. For the Jew only a Jew was his neighbor and many of them were neglected.

8. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Pero la pregunta es aplicable a nosotros. Ante esta ley ¿cuál es nuestra responsabilidad? Ser misericordioso, mostrar compasión. • But the question is applicable to us. Before this law what is our responsibility? To be merciful, to show compassion.

9. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • III. Los individuos del texto. Jesús quita la controversia del área de la teoría y la plantea en el camino peligroso entre Jericó y Jerusalén. • III. The individuals of the text. Jesus removes the controversy from the area of theory and sets it down on a dangerous road between Jericho and Jerusalem.

10. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • A. Hombre robado, golpeado, abandonado para morir. Jesús no dice “hombre samaritano” u “hombre judío”, sino simplemente “un hombre”. • A. Man who was robbed, beaten, abandoned to die. Jesus does not say “Samaritan” or “Jew” but simply “a man.”

11. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • B. Sacerdote, pilar del templo que celebraba todos los ritos y ceremonias, que por nacimiento y vocación sagrada era prójimo del hombre herido. • B. Priest, pillar of the temple that celebrated all the rites and ceremonies, who by birth and sacred vocation was a neighbor of the wounded man.

12. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • De todos los hombres éste debería haber mostrado misericordia al hombre herido, pero “viéndole, pasó de largo”. • Of all men this man should have shown mercy to the wounded man, but “when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.”

13. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • No le tenía compasión, no le amó. No había aprendido el texto: “Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio” (Mat. 12:7). • He did not have compassion on him, he did not love him. He had not learned the text: “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” (Matt. 12:7).

Levita, que también tenía muchas obligaciones en llevar a cabo los servicios del templo, que “llegando cerca de aquel lugar, y viéndole, pasó de largo”. • C. Levite, who also had many obligations in conducting the services of the temple, who “when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.”

15. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Se acercó para verle mejor, observar su condición, pero estaba demasiado ocupado en sus tareas religiosas para ayudar a este pobre hombre. (No veía esto como “tarea religiosa”). • He came near to see him better, to observe his condition, but he was too busy in his religious tasks to help this poor man. (He did not see this as a “religious duty”).

16. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • No quería involucrarse en lo que podría ser un caso complicado. Siempre hay “buenas excusas”, pero simplemente no tuvo compasión. No le amó. • He did not want to get involved in what could be a complicated case. There are always “good excuses” but he simply did not have compassion, he did not love him.

17. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Ex. 23:5, “Si ves caído debajo de su carga el asno del que te aborrece, no lo dejes abandonado. Ciertamente le ayudarás con Él.”¡El asno del enemigo! • Ex. 23:5, “If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you shall refrain from leaving it to him, you shall surely help him with it.” The donkey of an enemy!

18. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Deut. 22:4, “No podrás ver caído en el camino el asno o el buey de tu hermano y desentenderte de ellos. Sin falta ayúdale a levantarlo”. ¡Cuánto más si era hombre! • Deut. 22:4, “You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fall down along the road, and hide yourself from them; you shall surely help him lift them up again.” How much more a man!

19. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Isa. 58:6, El “ayuno” aceptable es dejar libres a los quebrantados y romper todo yugo… cubrir a tu prójimo cuando lo veas desnudo. • Isa. 58:6, Acceptable “fasting” is to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free… break every yoke… When you see the naked, you cover him.

20. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Es precisamente lo que NO hicieron el sacerdote y el levita. Pero no le conocieron y no les importaba su miseria y necesidad. • It is precisely what the priest and levite did NOT do. But they didn’t know him and they didn’t care about his misery and need.

21. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • D. Samaritano, odiado por los judíos (Jn. 4:9), expuesto a los mismos peligros que los otros, teniendo tanta urgencia que ellos de llegar a su destino. Podía haber usado las mismas excusas.. • D. Samaritan, hated by Jews (Jn. 4:9), exposed to same dangers as the others, had as much urgency as they to reach his destination. Could have made the same excuses…

22. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Pero “vino cerca de él, y viéndole, fue movido a misericordia; y acercándose, vendó sus heridas, echándoles aceite y vino; y poniéndole en su cabalgadura, lo llevó al mesón, y cuidó de él. • "But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

23. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Otro día al partir, sacó dos denarios, y los dio al mesonero, y le dijo: Cuídamele; y todo lo que gastes de más, yo te lo pagaré cuando regrese”. • "On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.‘”

24. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Servicio personal: él mismo vino cerca… le vio… fue movido a misericordia… vendó sus heridas… les echó aceite y vino… le puso sobre su animal y lo llevó al mesón… se encargó de los gastos… • Personal service: he himself came near… saw him… was moved to compassion… bound his wounds… poured oil and wine on them… placed him on his animal, took him to inn… paid all…

El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Muchos hermanos creen que para mostrar misericordia es necesario establecer instituciones (asilos para niños, ancianos), pero Sant. 1:27… • Many brethren believe that in order to show mercy it’s necessary to establish institutions (homes for children, elderly), but James 1:27…

26. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • El corazón de este samaritano no se había endurecido como el de los otros. “Amarás a tu prójimo” significa mostrarle compasión con servicio y ayuda. • The heart of this Samaritan was not hard like the others. “Love your neighbor” means show him compassion in service and help.

27. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • IV. ¿Qué tal nosotros? ¿Nunca vemos hermanos heridos, necesitados? ¿Los únicos son los robados y dejados casi muertos? • IV. What about us? Do we ever see wounded, needy brethren? Are the only ones those that have been robbed and left almost dead?

28. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Iglesia de Cristo, Sébaco, Nicaragua. “Nuestro hno. Harvey Chavarría tiene un niño (Luis Alfredo) de 5 años de edad, el sufrió un accidente, pues un clavo impactó en su ojo derecho requeriendo una cirugía… una trasplante de cornea y una extracción de catarata produto del golpe. Operación que cuesta $1000.” Firmada por los varones de la iglesia. (Tienen $125). • Si no se realiza esta cirujía el niño puede perder su visión.

El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Isaías Puerto, “Mi esposa fue al doctor porque ha estado bastante mal en su salud del corazón y el doctor le manda ha hacerse un examen que se llama ecocardiograma, y el costo es de 300 dolares y yo le pido hermano si por favor nos puede ayudar. Tambien le pido sus oraciones por ella y por la obra que realizo aqui en San Jose y Diriamba”. (Fiel evangelista en San José, Nicaragua).

30. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • José Martínez. “Hermano, quisiera solicitarle una ayuda para mi esposa e hija de 5 meses de nacida. Ellas están muy enfermas. Mi esposa tiene dolores en el cerebro y mi niña esta con calenturas y una fuerte tos. Algunos hermanos me ayudan para que yo predique a tiempo completo, pero con esto no puedo solventar todos mis gastos ya que por todo lo que me ayudan reúno un poco menos de $100. Si pudiera ayudarme yo se lo agradecería y Dios se lo tomaría en cuenta. Su hermano en Cristo”. (Fiel evangelista en Diriamba, Nicaragua).

31. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • Conclusión. A. ¿Cuál es la respuesta a la primera pregunta? ¿Cómo poseer la vida eterna? Amar a Dios y al prójimo lleva a la vida eterna. • Conclusion. A. What is the answer to the first question? How to inherit eternal life? Love God and neighbor is the way to eternal life.

32. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • B. Sacerdote, levita eran representantes de una religión degenerada. ¿Qué tal la nuestra? Es nada más asistir y tomar la cena? ¿Es religión de compasión? • B. Priest, levite were representatives of a degenerate religion. What about ours? Is it only attend and eat the Lord’s Supper? Is it a religion of compassion?

33. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • C. Es muy posible asistir fielmente a todo servicio y al mismo tiempo ser indiferente hacia las heridas y el sufrimiento de otros, aun de nuestros propios hermanos. • C. It is very possible to attend faithfully every service and at the same time be indifferent toward the wounds and suffering of others, even of our own brethren.

34. El Buen Samaritano – The Good Samaritan • D. Así es que este texto empieza con una controversia religiosa y termina en dar primeros auxilios a un hombre dejado para morir al lado del camino. (No sólo estudiarla sino practicarla). • D. So the text begins with a religious controversy and ends by giving first aid to a man left to die on the side of the road. (Not only study it but also practice it).
