Objectives • Solicit your views on the African development experience and the Africa We Want in 2063 • Discuss and reach a consensus on the roles and responsibilities of the African Media in the formulation and implementation of Agenda 2063 • Discuss and adopt the draft Communication Strategy for Agenda 2063

  3. Structure of Consultation: The Five Parts • Learning from the past and present African development experience and the role of the youth with the view to distilling lessons learned • Looking into the future: solicit your views on the type of the Africa we want in 2063 • How do we make it happen and what will be the roles and responsibilities of women • A Communications Strategy for Agenda 2063-what it is, who does what, etc. • What is being done in the short to the medium term: The AUC Strategic Plan 2014-2017

  4. Learning from the past and presentAfrican development experience • Take stock of Africa’s development experienceis and draw lessons both from successes and failures • Share lessons learned from the African planning experience at the national, regional and continental levels, particularly in the context of the formulation and implementation • Identify best practices that Agenda 2063 can be built upon

  5. Looking into the future: the Africa we want in 2063 • What kind of Africa do we want in 2063? • What would be the key goals and objectives of Agenda 2063? • What are the priority actions for Agenda 2063, including women? • What would be the drivers and enablers leading to the Africa we want in 2063? • What are the opportunities and how do we get to the Africa we want? • What are the risks, threats and mitigating factors?

  6. How do we make it happen: the role of the women in Agenda 2063 • Mobilizing popular support for Agenda 2063 • Identify policy/legislative measures and institutional arrangements needed • Define critical capacity issues to be considered as well as key actors • Help identify innovative financing mechanisms

  7. The Launching pad:The 2014 – 2017 AUC Strategic Plan • Share with the participants the Commission's strategic 2014 - 2017 AUC Strategic Plan including issues related to communication and information • Discuss how Women can play a part in the realization of Plan outcomes, including citizen buy-in and Plan popularization

  8. Expected Results from the Consultation Recommendations and suggestions for consideration into the African Agenda 2063
