  1. World War 2(September 1, 1939 – September 2, 1945) By: Katie Wedell

  2. How it Happened • I am sure that you are wondering how World War 2 began. Many people would answer short and briefly by saying “Because of that fool, Adolf Hitler.” or “Because Hitler is rude and is a complete idiot!”. That may be true, but there are many different answers to this question. For example, different people might say that Germany launched an invasion of Poland, since Poland had been using parts of Germany, which made Hitler VERY angry! And other people might say that Adolf Hitler armed Germany with the intention of invading, We (the United States of America) joined because of Pearl Harbor. As you can see there are many different answers.

  3. Who were the leaders? • The main leaders in World War 2 were the Allies, the Axis, and Hitler. You will learn plenty about Hitler later on in this power point, but what about the Allies, or the Axis? The Allies included Neville Chamberlain,Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, F D Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Charles de Gaulle, William King,Robert Menzies, and Michael Savage. The Axis included Adolf Hitler, Hideki Tojo, Emperor Hirohito, and Benito Mussolini. Every one of those people listed had a big part in World War 2, all in their own way! ( The three men in the picture are Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Joseph Stalin, all main leaders of World War 2.

  4. What was it like? • World War 2 had a very large effect on the people in it. For them it was very suffering! The German bombers made terrifying night raids(sudden attack)! Family’s were being broken up, and children were sent out of city to stay with strangers! Stores only had half of what there is supposed to be, and that half was mostly rationed(a fixed amount of food for civilians during a shortage). To top that all off, people in Britain had to wear gas masks, to protect them for gas bombs! And that is just a little part of war life.

  5. Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889- April 30, 1945) Adolf Hitler was the fourth of the six children his parents, Alois and Klara had. He was a very chubby baby. Hitler had trouble getting along with his dad who frequently beat him. Luckily he was very close to his mother. Adolf was a poor student. He got kicked out of school by a Jewish principal, which some say could have increased is hatred of Jews. Hitler wanted to be an artist, and he was quite good! He got denied twice by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Hitler said he first became anti-Semite(a person who is prejudiced toward Jews.) in Vienna, which had a large Jewish community. He also served in World War 1. In 1920 Hitler joined the Nazi party, and in 1921 he became its leader. CONTINUED-

  6. Adolf Hitler Hitler leaded the outbreak of World War 2 in 1939 when his rebuild of Wehrmacht invaded Poland. Germany and the Axis powers(a group of countries that opposed the Allied powers in World War II, including Italy, Japan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, and Yugoslavia) occupied most of Europe, a part of Northern Africa, east and southeast Asia, and the Pacific Ocean within three years! Sadly he killed 17 million civilians and six million Jews, or in other words, the holocaust. Back to his social life… he had seven daughters with a lady named Degrelle and then married to a different lady Eva Braun years latter, but two days after the wedding they both committed suicide!

  7. How it Ended Now that I tolled you how the war started and what happened during the war now I will end this with how it all ended. In the first few days of May, Germany’s armies surrendered, Germany was invaded and finally collapsed, and the war ended! Japan continued to fight with two atom bombs, but eventually the empire was forced to surrender and on the day… the war FINALLY ended!

  8. The End Thanks for Watching 
