  1. Information Architecture WG:Report of the Fall 2010 Meeting October 29, 2010 Dan Crichton, Chair Steve Hughes (presenting) NASA/JPL

  2. Summary Technical Status • Information Architecture WG • Goal: Develop a reference architecture and a formal representation method • Working Group Status: Active _X__ Idle ___ Will be terminated __ • Working Group Summary Situation: • Working Group Summary progress: • Excellent progress in developing a prototype registry reference implementation to support registration of data products, data dictionaries, and other artifacts • Good progress in developing the white book and aligning the interfaces with the reference implementation • Interactions with the Reference Architecture BoF development of a SOA style information architecture • Discussion on coordinated prototype effort between SM+C/IA personnel regarding the directory services • Problems and Issues: • Overlapping meeting times makes cross-coordination difficult

  3. Executive Summary • Good discussion on reviewing issues of the Registry Repository reference model • The book needs some minor improvements and examples, but is largely in place and consistent with the prototype • Demonstrated a CCSDS registry-compliant prototype with 100K objects ingested into a Planetary Data System (PDS) registry • Also demonstrated the importance of an info model-driven approach • Several good discussions on the Information Service Architecture and review of the concept and recommendations • Action to begin to prototype SM+C directory services with CCSDS registry reference model and report progress at next meeting

  4. Progress Achieved • The registry reference information model white book has made considerable progress • A functioning reference implementation prototype has been delivered to a customer • A draft charter for the Information Services Architecture (ISA) has been drafted and reviewed • Good progress in beginning to align with other architectures and WGs draft

  5. Schedule • Address RIDS and changes to the WB and prepare for red book submission (January 2011) • Begin prototyping efforts with SM+C/JSC • Report back at spring meetings on progress in aligning architecture and WG efforts

  6. Open Issues • Continued efforts are needed to coordinate cross-area activity in SOA; suggest CESG direct WGs to help identify overlaps of common services, information models, and messaging

  7. Action Items • Send meeting notes, presentations and comments to IAWG • To: Info Arch WG Members • Due: December 1, 2010 • Distribute updated registry reference architecture white book • To: IPR and MOIMS members • Due: December 15, 2010

  8. Resource/Overlap Problems • Need to identify overlaps in WGs, in terms of information service architecture, and determine how to best leverage what’s been done and to move it towards a more widely used standard/common approach across CCSDS

  9. Cross Area WG / BOF Issues • Need to ensure that WGs are working together towards an integrated CCSDS approach

  10. Resolutions to be Sent to CESG and Then to CMC • Recommendation to change IA charter to the Information Services Architecture WG and focus on common information architecture/management/modeling approaches across CCSDS and within the space domain

  11. New Working Items, New BOFs, etc. • None
