CPI-What is it anyway? • Joint effort with the Human Resources Department to correctly identify the work teachers are assigned and report to the State of Georgia, Department of Education. • Data collections cycle just like FTE, Student Record, Federal Child Count, etc. • Could result in loss of funding if not accurate. • Works like FTE and Student Record-they receive errors as it is a ‘data collection’ cycle and therefore must follow data collection error resolution and accuracy of reporting.

  3. CPI-What is it anyway? Certified and Classified Personnel Information • Board Rule 160-5-2-.50 • Reporting of certified and classified personnel based on their role.

  4. How is CPI data used? • State funding for certified staff • Math/Science incentive funding • Determine teacher shortage areas • Program reviews • State/Federal reporting • Highly Qualified Teacher determinations for NCLB

  5. When is data collected? • Data collections follow the same cycle as FTE 1 and FTE 2. (October and March) • CPI data collection for the fall is called CPI 1(October) • CPI data collection for the spring is called CPI 2 (March)

  6. What are we doing with CPI -as ESEP Leads? • School ESEP Leads and the ESEP Department work with Human Resources to identify the individuals and schedules of those persons who work in Interrelated teaching positions. • School ESEP Leads and the ESEP Department work with Human Resources to identify the individuals who work in Split Teaching Positions for MI/MO and SID/PID to determine what their caseload is ‘most like’. • A person who fills an MI/MO position will need to be classified as either MI or MO. To do that we will need to determine how their ‘teaching’ caseload is distributed. • Same is true for SID/PID. *Teaching caseload means how many students of each disability per day…

Worksheet 1: Interrelated PersonnelHow to fill it out • Enter the legal first and last name of the persons who fill Interrelated Teaching positions at your school. • Enter the ID number of the individuals. • Enter information into the ‘schedule’ for small groups only. • Pick the period in which they teach small group and enter the subject area they teach during that period. • See next slide for sample.

Worksheet 2- Split PositionsHow to fill it out • Enter the legal first and last name of the persons who fill Split teaching positions at your school. • Enter the ID number of the individuals. • Determine the total number of MO and MI students, fill the cell with the number of each. • If a student is OHI but fills an MO or MI seat in that classroom, count as served. • The largest number of students classified will determine the ‘most like’ the teacher will be. • In other words, if they have more MO students than MI, they will be classified as an MO teacher for this data collection cycle. • The same is true for SID/PID teachers. • See next slide for sample.

  11. Notes • Avoid Autism, EBD, GNETS and any teacher who is not filling an Interrelated teaching position. • Avoid positions that are identified as MO, MI, SID, PID, AU, EBD. Only looking for true split positions such as MI/MO and SID/PID. • Some schools have zero split positions. • Don’t forget to put the name of the school on the report. • All reports for CPI have the potential to be pulled for audit by local, state and federal entities.
