Time Line • May 5, 1922 born in Lynn Massachusetts • 1940 began pilot lessons • September 7, 1941 got private pilot license • December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor • December 8, 1941 US enters WWII • May 1943 Turned 21 years old and asked to come to Texas • April 26, 1943 became air traffic control tower operator at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation • January 19, 1944 became twin engine instrument qualified and was sent to the 4th Air Force in March Field California • August, 1944 special training in Hamilton Field California • May 8, 1945 VE day – end of WWII • December 20, 1944 WASPs disbanded • 1977 WASPs recognized as Veterans • 2010 awarded with the Congressional Gold Medal • Now she lectures her experiences around the county
