  1. GimmeFIVEUAW’s National Mobilizing Program • Designed to increase activism, recruit and engage members to organize, building power and win justice for our union and community. • The program simply asks members to recommit to the union by devoting time in the following areas: recruitment, mobilizing, organizing, political action and community involvement. • Members will receive a button for every five (5) activities attended. Each time you complete a task you will be rewarded for your hard work with a new button. The goal is to collect all five buttons every calendar year. • The Regions with highest level of recruitment and activism will receive recognition at the yearly UAW CAP Conference.

  2. EXCITING NEWS!!! NEW CHANGE ADDITION As a direct reflection of the continuous growth in the GimmeFIVE Program, we would like to unveil the NEW “Community “ button. Due to the tremendous support and effort our members contribute to the community, we felt this was a necessary addition to the program. Another big announcement, effective November 2011, the GimmeFIVE Program has changed from HOURS to ACTIVITIES to further increase activism within our membership and make it easier for members to report their activism. We are energized about the new features to the GimmeFIVE Program, including the addition of “Español” pages for our Spanish members.

  3. GimmeFIVE Button Overview • Participate in FIVE (5) activities through your Region supporting new member organizing. Example: attend organizing meetings, gate rallies & show support for unorganized workers. • Participate in FIVE (5) activities through your Region in mobilization activities to support workers fighting for justice. Example: contract campaigns & labor-related community campaigns. • Wear your union colors (UAW insignia) and participate in FIVE (5) activities through your Region in community involvement activities. Example: Habitat for Humanity, soup kitchens & Big Brother/Sister. • Sign-up FIVE (5) other UAW members to participate in the GimmeFIVE Program. This is the key to our success and showing the broader public our strength. • Participate in FIVE (5) activities through your Region Community Action Program (CAP). Example: lobbying, attend political rallies & GOTV.

  6. Sign-up Online Once you have signed up, the easiest way to report your activities and to stay in touch will be through the GimmeFIVE website at www.gimmefiveuaw.org. After you set up your online username and password, you can log your activities and start earning buttons.

  16. GimmeFIVE: Where We Need to Go 2012 Goals Register 25% of UAW membership for GimmeFIVE Program. Engage 10% of those signed up in consistent activism as well as moving Local Unions to build a permanent mobilization structure that will focus on recruiting more activists, increasing activism, and building a communication structure within the work place that regularly engages members in a two way communication. Goal of a minimum of two buttons earned per every registered GimmeFIVE member.
