  2. Like all capitals with a long history, London is rich in institutions of culture, art and science. • London has many museums telling about all branches of science and industry, art and literature.

  3. The British Museum shows works of art from Asia, Egypt, Rome and Greece as well as Britain and other countries. It has branches in several parts of London, including the Museum of Natural History and the Children‘s Museum. Its well-known library is one of the best in the world.

  4. London is famous for its art galleries. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square contains paintings of all schools. The National Portrait Gallery shows portraits of British statesmen, writers and the Tate Gallery shows British paintings and modern works of art.

  5. London parks are the most beautiful areas of the city. You can sit in St. James‘s Park by the side of the lake and listen to the band playing music.

  6. Green Park is a different kind of park. It is a quiet, wooded place.

  7. Hyde Park was once part of a forest. In our days, Speakers‘ Corner of the park is always a centre of activity. There is a boating lake, and skating in the winter. There is an open – air theatre where plays are put on in the summer, and a rose garden and a restaurant.

  8. Regent‘s Park is one of the favourite places to visit for many people. It is an interesting natural park for rest.
