Surveys • Surveys • are a research instrument consisting of a series of questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information from respondents often designed for statistical analysis of the responses. • You can create surveys in SharePoint • Simple • Complex (Branching) • Possible uses of surveys????

Surveys • Steps to creating a survey • Plan your survey with pencil & paper first • Create the survey list in SharePoint • Revised permission if need be • Enter all of the questions, in order, first • Create the branches (if required) • Test the survey • Delete any test responses • Add web part to site • Promote the survey

Surveys • Common pitfalls or problems with surveys • Question construction or wording may be misleading to the respondent and an undesired response may be given (ALL SURVEYS have this problem) • Not enough time, thought or effort is given to creating questions. • Avoid using “Yes/No” (check box). Use Choice instead. • Branching logic too complicated or not well thought out. • No ability to modify views.
