  2. History Of Education Massachusetts Act of 1642 “The masses had to be educated in order to be able to understand the written codes that the colonies were now living under, both religious and secular” (Barger, 2004).

  3. Statistics on Literacy in the 18th Century

  4. Significant Educational Movements in History • Seneca Falls Convention of 1848: allowed for women’s right to education including the establishment of schools (Horany, 2002, Touhill, 1969). • Morrill Act of 1862: Land Grant College Act that provided funding for higher education (Touhill, 1969). • 19th Century: State Supervised Systems of Public Education (Rury, 2009). • 1800’s: NAACP, Graduation of 1st African American and establishment of African Americans in education (Barger, 2004). • Establishment of Lancastrian, Common and Charity Schools (Rury, 2009).

Education in the 21st Century “Teachers and students, co-intent on reality, are both Subjects, not only in the task of unveiling that reality, and thereby coming to know it critically, but in the task of re-creating that knowledge. Educational Plan To Meet the AYP • Establish Peer Observation and Peer Assessment tools to aide teachers in planning and carrying out lesson plans effectively. • Provide Collaboration time for educators to work together to determine best practices for all students. • Plan Family School Nights once a month to encourage families to work with the school in meeting the students’ educational needs. • Work with the Boys & Girls Club to provide after school tutoring for all students. • Continue to offer Sample WKCE testing each school year as well as add Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Testing twice a year.
