PEDRO ALMODOVAR Volver (2006) Volver literally means “to return to a place.” • Volver won the Best Screenplay award and the award for Best Actress at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. • The film also received two nominations at the 2006 Golden Globes: Best Actress for Penelope Cruz as well as Best Foreign Language Film. • In addition, Penelope Cruz received Academy Award, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Best Actress in the role of Raimunda.

PEDRO ALMODOVAR Volver (2006) Almodovar says about Volver’s story: It is precisely about death...More than about death itself, the screenplay talks about the rich culture that surrounds death in the region of La Mancha, where I was born. It is about the way (not tragic at all) in which various female characters, of different generations, deal with this culture.
