WHAT IS AN S-PAC? • Structured Conference Planned And Run By Students • Presentations Of Non-Technical Career Issues By Highly Qualified Volunteer Speakers • Conference Funded By Many Sources (IEEE, School, Industry) • National List of Speakers Available • Travel Costs Funded by IEEE-USA SCDA Overview

  5. WHAT IS AN S-PAVe? • Projects/Activities Conceived By IEEE Student Branches To Develop Awareness Of Engineering Professionalism • Activities Based On SCDA Topics • “Free-Flowing Format” Enables Students To Be Creative SCDA Overview

  7. 2003 MAJOR R2 TEAM GOALS • Increase contact (via e-mail, face-to-face meetings) between our Region 2 S-PAC team members and Sections with the joint purpose to expose Student Branches to IEEE Student Professional Awareness Activities • Keep all Region 2 contact information up to date (Section/Student Activities/PACE Chairs, IEEE Student Branch Counselors, IEEE Student Branch Officers) and utilize this information for effective communication to promote IEEE Student Professional Awareness Activities • Continued support and coordination by the S-PAC team members with Student Branches in the planning and execution of S-PACs (10-to-15 this year) and S-PAVEs (5-to-10 this year). OUR SUGGESTIONS TO R2 SECTION CHAIRS • Reach out to your Student Branches • Don’t wait for them to come to you • Appoint Student Branch Mentors • Hold Joint IEEE Student Branch/Section Meetings (2+ per year) • Speakers • Pizza • Provide/Advertise Networking Opportunities • Invite One of Our S-PAC Team Members to also Speak • Appoint an Active Section Student Activities Chair • Keep all Region 2 contact information up to date (Section/Student Activities/ PACE Chairs, IEEE Student Branch Counselors, IEEE Student Branch Officers) SCDA Overview
