  12. 1st Progress Test • All work up to the test • If legitimately missed  cannot promote • If illegitimately missed  forfeit marks

  13. 2nd Progress Test • All the work since the previous test, thus excluding the work covered in 1st progress test • If legitimately missed  cannot promote • If illegitimately missed  forfeit marks

  14. ANAESTHESIOLOGY GNK 586 NB: Not all the study material can ever be covered in the formal contact sessions! Contact sessions serve to highlight, clarify and bring additional information ! Assessments will include work covered in formal sessions and prescribed lecture notesPLUS work covered during morning rotations (theory and practice)

  15. ANAESTHESIOLOGY GNK 586 No additional tests will be written (for missed progress test / block test) – such unfortunates cannot promote and will sit for the block exam! Absence from any assessment without a valid reason, as determined by the Faculty, will require a student to repeat the block…. Legitimate absence from the block exam will invoke the second block exam as the first and last block exam!

  18. 5. Opioids and post-op analgesia 6. Monitoring 7. Intravenous induction agents 8. Local anaesthesia 9. Regional anaesthesia

  19. Class test 2: • 08:00-09:00 Monday 3/6/2013 • Covers: 1. Muscle relaxants 2. Muscle diseases 3. Renal and liver disease 4. Electrolytes and acid-base 5. Airway management 6. Respiratory disease 7. Inhalational agents 8. Trauma and head injuries

  20. Block test: • Friday 07/06/2013 08:00-11:00 • Covers: 1. Cardio-vascular physiology and disease 2. Geriatrics

  21. 3. ENT, eye and OPD anaesthesia, porphyria 4. Obstetrics 5. Paediatrics 6. Recovery room and PONV 7. Endocrine 8. Fluids and blood
