  2. Yoga Studio Yoga Studio is an easy-to-use app with many unique features including ready-made classes that range from 15-60 minutes. It is suitable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced people and there is yoga for relaxation, flexibility, strength, balance, and a combination of all four. The chance to create your own video classes is another useful feature as you can choose and each pose and the smart-link feature allows each pose to flow smoothly into the next. This app also allows you to schedule and keep track of your classes as it automatically syncs with your calendar. It even reveals your class history and your most recent/most played classes. Their yoga pose library contains over 280 poses found in English and Sanskrit. It will even show each pose’s benefits, instructions, modifications, variations, and cautions. One of the greatest features is the ability to choose your class atmosphere with different backgrounds, music, and instruction level. This app requires at least iOS 6 to function.

  3. MapMyWalk MapMyWalk is a simply tracking tool that helps motivate walkers and improve activity levels. It even contains social tools to share improvements/workouts with friends. Some features include pace(avg., max., current), GPS route mapping, distance, calorie counting, elevation profile, route navigation, nutrition tracking, and voice prompts that give updates in your progress. This app also allows you to use your phone (phone calls, music, etc.) as it keeps track in the background. You can even connect to Twitter and Facebook and post your workouts or keep everything private. MapMyWalk has its own community where you can add friends. Your profile shows your distance, amount of workouts, calories burned, etc. for all time or average/weekly. Not only will this app track walking, it will also track running, cycling, jogging, dog walking, cross country, skiing, hiking, roller-skating, swimming, treadmill, stairmaster, etc. It does run on iOS 6 but for iOS 7 users, you must do a background refresh to ensure workouts are recorded.

  4. Fooducate Fooducate nor only teaches you what is in the processed foods you eat but also helps you lose weight, track your progress, and eat real food. The scanner looks at barcodes of tons of foods and shows you what is really in it like excessive sugar, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, MSG, controversial food colorings, GMOs, additives, preservatives, and artificial sweeteners. The app also includes personalization options such as gender, weight, height, activity level, desired weight loss, carb control, health conditions, etc. This app does contain in-app purchases that gets rid of ads, uncovers gluten and allergens, etc. There are also different subscriptions you can purchase (3-month, full year). It does require iOS 6.1 or higher, an iPhone 3GS or newer, and it is a US product.

  5. Daily Cardio Workout Daily Cardio Workout is your own personal trainer everywhere. There are different 5-10 minute cardio workouts with videos showing each exercise. There are multiple custom routines and 28 different exercises. Another bonus is the ad-free aspect as well as the “no need” for internet to use. It works great for both men and women since there are workouts for each. This app is the perfect “on-the-go” workout or for those days when there is just simply no time to go to the gym. This app is only one of the many Daily Workouts you can get. Others include abs, legs, butt, and full-body. Daily Workouts also has Pilates, stretch, and ball workouts (via in-app purchase). The downside is the cost. Though only $0.99, there is a free version that does not include all the features and also contains advertisements. To download this app, you must have iOS 5.0 or later. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and has been optimized for use on the iPhone 5.

  6. MyFitnessPal MyFitnessPal is an easy-to-use calorie counter with the largest food database for iPhones. Simply enter a food to see its calories and the app automatically remembers favorites, even saves entire meals. It fully syncs with the web so not only can you log on from your phone, you can also log on using the web. All data from the app is backed up on your MyFitnessPal account (required in order to have this app). Dieting with friends also easy as you can keep track of each other’s progress. Some of the best features are the ability of create your own foods and exercises, track all major nutrients, customize goals, and recipe calculator. It also includes a barcode scanner that finds that food in their database. Not only is this a calorie counter, is also includes over 350 exercises for cardio and strength that you can customize. The reports help track your weight, measurements, etc., view progress charts over time, and have daily nutritional summary with all major ingredients. This app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and requires iOS 6.0 or later to function.
