  2. Highlights • FO-4 has met twice since the last TC meeting • June 2004 • January 2005 • Attendance appears stable • Attendees from Mexico, UK and Canada at our last meeting • New initiative on FTTP

  3. FO-4 Vision • Position FO-4 asthe leader in fiber optic component standards • Provide value to the industry • Promote worldwide harmonization of standards • Improve efficiency through improved processes • Support membership growth

  4. New FTTP Initiative • FO-4 will establish a Correspondence group to address the needs of the access market generally described as FTTx or FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premise) • A reflector has been established • To join the reflector, send an e-mail from the address that you want on the reflector to join-fo4fttp@tiacomm.org • Andre Girard has been appointed to lead the Correspondence Group

  5. New FTTP Initiative (cont.) • The Correspondence Group under FO-4 is to identify and document specific opportunities for FO-4 in FTTP Standards development • The output will be a document that may be published that defines a Roadmap of required work in the FO-4 Engineering Committee which provides value to FTTP implementers • The Correspondence Group will present a written report at the June 2005 FO-4 meeting at which time the FO-4 Committee will offer suggestions and assign specific work items to the appropriate FO-4 Subcommittees

  6. Other new opportunities • Multimode fiber standardization in support of high bit-rate systems • Standard connector interfaces • Component specifications
