In house design of septum magnet and vacuum chamber - complete Wire eroding of laminations - complete Septum magnet components - contact placed with TR Engineering – Delivery due 10th July Septum Design • Lamination Cleaning Fixture - contact placed with Metric Tool and Die – Delivery due 30th June • Cleaning of laminations July 09 • Assembly of septum magnet – 1st -14th August 09 • Magnet measurement coils – design complete and coil manufacture in progress at DL. • Magnet measurements scheduled for 17th -28th August 09 ISO view of septum with vacuum chamber removed
Kicker Magnet Design • Kicker magnet components - contract placed with Brite Precision - completed May 09 • Magnet measurement coils – design complete and coil manufacture in progress at DL. • Magnet measurements scheduled for July 09 • Power supply acceptance testing at APP 24th -26th June. Corrector Magnet Design • Contract placed with Tesla Engineering - scheduled delivery early August 09 • 20 vertical corrector magnets • 8 combined vertical/horizontal corrector magnets Vertical corrector magnets Combined vertical/horizontal corrector magnets
Standard Ring Vacuum Chamber • Contract placed with VG Scienta - all 16 chambers now delivered.
Injection/Extraction Ring Vacuum Chambers • Design complete • Contract placed with K J Lesker- Delivery due 24th August 09 Kicker Kicker Septum
RF Cavity Progress Input Coupler construction (Times Microwave) • 16 out of 20 cavities received • Final 4 awaiting input couplers from Times Microwave • 2 input couplers have been delivered • Input couplers • Excessive losses discovered on 2 of the feedthroughs and have been returned to Times Microwave for investigation/repair • In parrallel an order for 2 additional feedthrough’s has been placed with Times Microwave due to leaking/damaged feedthrough’s • Cavity evaluation • Four cavities successfully conditioned • Q0≈20000 achieved • Crosstalk seen on the pick-up probe • Responses to be checked and coupler to be adjusted by 180° Cavity construction Tuning range 0- 25 mm EMMA Review Alan Wheelhouse
Progress on Waveguide Distribution Q-Par Angus • Acceptance tests performed on the 27th May 2009 • Issue with the reflected power coupler directivity • 3dB variation with 180° phase shift • Latest improvements look encouraging • To be reviewed • Need to determine its criticality to the LLRF system • System presently undergoing painting • Delivery anticipated by the 30th June 2009 • Installation late August 2009 • Actions • 3dB hybrid required • No flexible waveguide sections • Straight length of WR650 still to be defined EMMA Review Alan Wheelhouse

LLRF System Progress • Performance tests performed with I-Tech Libra system • At 5kW (~150kV) per cavity • Phase: 0.0093º (spec is 0.3º) • Amplitude: 0.006% (spec is 0.3%) • Contract for LLRF system to be awarded by 19th June 2009 • Delivery mid August 2009 • Commissioning October 2009 • Critical issue • Synchronisation of the phase with the arrival of the beam EMMA Review Alan Wheelhouse
INJECTION LINE ALICE to EMMA • Modules 27, 28 and 29 have been assembled, installed, leak tested and RGA scanned. • Module 30 – assembly ready for vacuum pump down ALICE Module 30 Module 28 Module 29 Module 27
Ring GirderModule Assembly • 4 out of 7 girders have the quadrupoles installed • One girder with vacuum chambers installed ready for pump down (next slide)
DIAGNOSTICS LINE • YAG’s, bellows and beam dumps - Contract placed with - K J Lesker – Delivery in August 09. • BPM Assemblies – Contract placed with VG Scienta – Delivered • Quadrupole and dipole magnets - Contract placed with Scanditronix – Delivery End of June 09 • Corrector magnets - Contract placed with Tesla – delivery August 09 • Vacuum chambers – Design complete. • Girders - Design complete.
