  1. Knee Pain Treatment My name is Dr Salam and I practice at the One Care Medical Center a 100 bedded orthopaedic hospital. We offer some of the most natural knee pain treatment in Coimbatore area. However, lets first understand a bit about Knee pain treatment can be caused by overuse injury, direct trauma or an underlying condition like arthritis. Treatment of knee pain of course depend on the cause. Common symptoms include pain, swelling and stiffness as such. Knee pain however is a very treatable problem. Diagnosing knee pain however requires an in depth medical history combined with imaging studies where necessary. Finding out the location of knee pain is very important including understanding information on how, when it began, the extent and spread. The causes of knee pain though of course are numerous and complex. Common causes of knee pain include 1. Knee osteoarthritis Knee Osteoarthritis develops as a result of wear and tear in the individuals cartilage and is more common among people over 50 years of age. With increasing joint degradation the sharp pain becomes dull and aching in nature 2. Knee ligament injuries Collateral ligament injury - Direct blows to outside of the knee results in MCL tear, this can result in severe pain in the knee joint. Cruciate ligament injury - The cruciate ligaments on the other hand cross one another in the knee joint. ACL injuries are however more common and occur during running and direct

  2. blows to the knee joint. A popping sound can usually be heard along with a sudden swelling in the knee 3. Torn Meniscus - Meniscus are C-shaped cartilages. Menisci tears occur during sports based in activities. These tears cause severe pain and is usually accompanied by a 'pop' sound. 4. Patellar Tendonitis - Patellar tendonitis is nothing but an inflammation of the patellar tendon. This can occur in individuals who engage in sports and also in frequent jumping/running. Joint stability is usually lost and the person feels like the joint is giving away. 5. Bakers cyst - A bakers cyst is nothing but a swelling that occurs in the posterior aspect of the knee joint. Not all cyst cause pain however a tightening sensation can be felt in the back of the knee. Symptoms of knee pain include:- Inability to walk Deformity around the joint Knee pain at night Locking of the knee Signs of infection Home treatment strategies for knee pain - Not all knee pain issues can subside with treatments. However simple treatment strategies that can be used at home include a. Rest b. Ice c. Compression d. Elevation e. Physical therapy. In the event of fracture of course where joint displacement has occurred, plating and fixaton should be done along with appropriate imaging studies.
