NextGen 2025 System InterfaceDescription SV-1p

  • The NextGen 2025 System Interface Description (SV-1p) depicts interactions among the functional capabilities in the NextGen NAS. It is divided into four areas:

    • Along the top of the diagram are airborne elements, including aircraft (intended to represent all types of consumer flight vehicles) and satellite support systems

    • Across the middle, just below the airborne elements, are the remote facilities. The green shading of the outer box is intended to indicate that these elements are part of the National Airspace System (NAS)

    • Along the left side of the diagram are ground-based stakeholders and consumers in boxes shaded sky blue similar to the aircraft box described above

    • The fourth area is below the remote facilities, and consists of the functions located at NextGen facilities, which are major operations centers. They are surrounded by a green box to indicate that they are part of the NAS
