  4. Diet • Alfalfa • Wild Grasses • Tree Bark • Cactus • Green Plants • Aquatic Plants • Nuts • Fruits

  5. Physical Characteristics • The male is is bigger than a female deer. • Female is 65 KG • Male is 90 KG • Male grows antlers females don’t • Male known as Buck female known as Doe

  6. Human Relationships • The White Tail deer is a visiting attraction. • Prey of the human • Crop destroyer • Food for primitives

  8. Conservation Satus • Population is 25 million-30 million • Was low as 250 thousand-300 thousand

  9. Distribution • It lives in all 48 states except Hawaii and California • Lives in lower Canada and upper Mexico

  10. Behavior • Mother gives birth to usually two fawns • Mother very protective of young • Mother will stay with her young for a year to two years

  12. Human Relationships • Deer was primary food source to Indians before pilgrims came to America • Deer is crop destroyer/pest
