Renovation & Modernization - Xth Plan Thermal units • 106 units under Life Extension Programme • Benefits to accrue - increase in generation - 23,700 MU/ year - increase in life span - 15 to 20 years • 60 units under Renovation & Modernization • Capacity involved - 13,900 MW • Benefits to accrue - 3,000 MU/ year Hydro units • 240 units under Renovation & Modernization & uprating • Capacity involved - 8,088 MW • Benefits to accrue - 2,887 MW - 10,203 MU/ year Contd. .....

Funds available through PFC and REC for R&M schemes and RLA studies under Accelerated Generation and Supply Programme (AG&SP) • Interest subsidy of 3% available subject to compliance within stipulated time frame : • Completion of RLA studies and preparation of feasibility reports Dec,’03 • Calling of tenders Feb./ Mar.’04 • Placement of orders for Life Extension Dec.’04 • Commencement of execution Mar.’05

Need to further strengthen and streamline monitoring mechanism at all levels of review in the State / SEB • Project specific coordinators identified in CEA for expediting and assistance of project authorities • Need for system for regular reporting of inter-ministerial / inter state issues to enable take up with appropriate authorities • Funds now available for Generation projects from Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) also Work at all project sites to commence within current year to ensure completion within Xth Plan
