  2. Working with the Utility • Bring the utility in EARLY • What is the array’s capacity? (MW) • <1 MW (Residential) • > 1 MW (Commercial or Large Scale) • What is the point of interconnection? • On customer side or utility side • Interconnection Standards • Backup

Working with the Utility Who will own the array when operational? • Customer-owned • No issues, meet local codes and utility interconnection standard • Utility may purchase any excess generation • Backup provisions or Rate Change • 3rd Party-owned • Will the energy sale occur at retail or wholesale level (PPA) • Retail wheeling is not permitted • Retail sales in States w/ traditional regulation is not permitted

  4. Working with the Utility • Economics • Customer side – Incremental cost, not average cost • Grid connected – PPA or RFP, beat utility lambda • Higher cost, RPS states • Bring the utility in EARLY
