  5. Promotion to the 11th Grade • 11 Credits • Minimum of 2 English and 2 Math credits • Enrolled in the other courses needed to complete the 24 credits required for graduation

  6. Attendance Policy • 45-day course • must attend 42 days • 90-day course • must attend 85 days • 180-day course • must attend 170 days

  7. SC Graduation Requirements 24 Credits Required 4 English 4 Math 3 Science: Biology required 3 Social Studies: Social Studies Elective U.S. History American Government/Economics 1 PE or ROTC 1 Computer Science 1 Career/Technology Elective OR World Language 7 Electives

  8. 4-Year College Requirements • Theory or Honors courses • Four math credits including—Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and fourth higher level math • Three Lab Sciences • Two units of World Languages (some colleges require 3 years) • One Academic Elective • Fine Arts Elective

  11. SC SCHOLARSHIPS Palmetto Fellows • Score 1200 (Reading + Math) on SAT or 27 on ACT, 3.5 minimum GPA, top 6% of sophomore, junior or senior year. OR • Score 1400 On SAT or 32 ACT and 4.0 GPA $6,700 each academic year

  12. SC SCHOLARSHIPS LIFE Scholarship • Four-Year school - two out of three qualifiers • 3.0 GPA • top 30% of graduating class • 1100 on SAT or 24 on ACT • $5,000 per academic year • Two-Year school 3.0 GPA Full tuition and $300 for books

  13. SC SCHOLARSHIPS HOPE Scholarship • Only available at Four-Year schools 3.0 Final GPA $2,650 for the first academic year • Lottery Tuition Assistance Program Only available at Two-Year schools Must complete a FAFSA Award money varies by academic year.

  14. OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS • Newsletters • Community Scholarships Church, Work, Clubs • Institutional Scholarships Most are automatically considered • Start completing • community service/volunteer work now!!!

Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers • Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past • Research careers – Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments • Create plans for the future – Create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned by the school to better prepare your student for future college and career goals

  16. Next Steps… No postcards will be mailed with appointment times. If you would like to attend your child’s IGP Conference, please see your counselor after this meeting to schedule an appointment. If you don’t sign up for an appointment, we will still meet individually with your child and they can share information from the meeting with you.
