  2. FOOD HAZARDS Hazard: means a biological, chemical or physical agent in, or condition of, food with the potential to cause an adverse health effect. Aflatoxins and other mycotoxins are among the chemical hazards considered in ensuring food safety Need to consider the roles of the two ministries in addressing the risks associated with aflatoxis along the food chain i.e Primary Production to when the food is ready for direct human consumption CJS Mosha NFFCI

COLLABORATION BETWEEN MINISTRIES OF AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH Conclusion • Study, review exisiting • Policies – to give government commitment to reduction of aflatoxins in the foods produced and or traded in the country • There is an urgent need for a national food safety policy • Acts establishing the different agencies under the ministries to include clear functions addressing control of aflatoxins levels along the food chain CJS Mosha NFFCI
